Lovebirds Lovebirds address alternative relationship pressures and exploration through paired, strutting geese. These geese - ungainly variations of the swan, the symbol of true love - seem serenely united by a known plan. Even their footsteps are taken in unison. However, a drawn map in the background begins to confuse the image. Vague instructions of how to form a perfect relationship become indecipherable as the lines throb passionately. Finally, the birds march on together, crudely transformed and garishly sexual, but also elegantly partnered and embracing a culture where there are no maps. Lovebirds was created with digital video and animation. It was post-produced at the Experimental Television Center in Owego, NY.

Menagerie Metaphoric and mythological, the animal-based imagery of Menagerie provides a look into very human concerns of emotions, a need for romantic and familial love, and considerations of a dying planet. Playing upon socially constructed imagery, these animals stand in for human ideas best expressed by a metaphoric language. |
